Toxicology

About this programme

The Toxicology program has been designed to provide students with an understanding of how people, other biota and natural ecosystems function, how contaminants behave in the body and in the natural environment, how and by what mechanisms toxicants may adversely affect individuals, populations and ecosystems, and how to measure toxicants and their potential effects. The Interdisciplinary program in Toxicology is a joint program of the Toxicology Centre, four academic departments: Biology, Soil Science, Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, Animal and Poultry Science and the School of Environment and Sustainability. The program consists of a core of toxicology, biology, and chemistry courses, with supplemental required courses from several other disciplines. The program allows students to choose from a large number of electives so that they can focus, under the guidance of the Academic Advisor, their undergraduate program to emphasize either environmental toxicology or biomedical toxicology.
