About this programme
Animal Science is the study of the feeding, breeding and management of domestic animals with a focus on livestock production systems. Areas of emphasis in the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.S.A) in Animal Science program include physiology, genetics, nutrition, feed processing, animal behaviour and welfare, sustainable production systems and management, pasture management, and forage production. This program also focuses on applying a broad knowledge base in animal science to address local and global challenges facing animal industries. Students will gain skills that prepare them for careers serving the animal agri-food industry. Students interested in veterinary medicine can complete all required courses for entry into the D.V.M. program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in the first two years of the Animal Science program.
