The American Indian and Indigenous Studies concentration provides a rigorous foundation in the histories, cultures, and contemporary experiences of Indigenous peoples of North America, including their encounters with colonialism, settler states, and ongoing struggles for sovereignty. The curriculum also encourages a hemispheric perspective, examining the diverse experiences and cultural practices of Indigenous peoples across the Americas. Students may petition the Director of Undergraduate Studies to have additional courses approved for major or minor credit; such requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
