Entry requirements

• 'The official language of communication and instruction for international students at KAIST is English' and 'Most courses are conducted entirely in English' (2027 Admissions Guide). All applicants must submit at least one English Proficiency Test score
• TOEFL iBT 83 (test taken before Jan 21, 2026; 4.5 on the rescaled TOEFL taken on or after that date) / IELTS 6.5 / TOEIC 720 / TEPS 326 (stated as recommended scores). 'Scores from Institutional Testing Program(ITP), Duolingo English Test(DET) and at-home/online test versions are NOT accepted.' Exemptions: nationals of 19 listed countries, or a certificate that English was the medium of instruction in high school. KAIST operates a non-declared major system: 'Upon reaching their second year, students have the opportunity to select a major ... without additional requirements.' 'KAIST does not provide a transfer system.'
