Each MPhil student must complete 15 units of coursework and an MPhil thesis with original research. Each PhD student must complete 12 units of coursework and a PhD thesis with original research. To reach the PhD candidacy stage, each student should complete two examination papers, one on Geographical Theory and Methodology, the other on one sub-discipline of his/her specialization. Fields of Specialization include Geo-spatial Data Science, Physical Environment and Resource Management, Urban and Regional Development, and Smart Sustainable Cities.
In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School, applicants should have had a basic training in their undergraduate studies in Geography or other appropriate subjects. Each applicant must submit a research proposal. PhD applicants should possess a Master's degree in Geography or related fields and submit his/her master thesis or academic papers.
