Global Development (BS)
Cornell University · Ithaca, United States
Located within the Ashley School of Global Development and the Environment, the Global Development (GDEV) undergraduate major responds to the need for innovative and critical thinking about the concept and practice of development, the process of improving the standard of living and the economic, social, and political conditions of people in communities around the world. It prepares students by building tangible skills to analyze real-world problems, clarify solutions, develop leadership, and foster positive social change. We do so in the joint spirits of Gro Harlem Brundtland's vision of sustainable development as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs , and Margaret Mead's reminder that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world .
