Entry requirements

Admission to a PhD normally requires either a master's degree or a bachelor's degree with honours (four years with a substantial research component), at a standard equivalent to first- or second-class (first division) honours. Beyond the academic threshold, you must submit a research proposal outlining your field and research question, and admission depends on AUT confirming a suitable supervisor and facilities in that area — meeting the academic requirement alone does not guarantee a place until supervision is secured. A higher English-language level is also required.
