About this programme

The programme aims to provide a sequential learning option leading from both the Bachelor of Music (MusB) and the BA in music. It also aims to offer an appealing coursework degree in music where students may choose to continue their studies in a creative practice (including composition, performance and music production) or in music scholarship.

Entry requirements

Admission: Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice- Chancellor (Humanities). Every applicant must either: be a graduate of music (MusB), or have alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice- Chancellor (Humanities). In considering an applicant's qualifications, regard will be had to the detail of the course of study followed to gain the qualification, as well as the applicant's performance in the programme. Applicants must normally have achieved an average grade of at least B in the papers at the highest level in the programme. Auditions for the performance options may be required if the candidate has not completed a MusB with B in MUSI 343 Instrumental or Vocal Performance at the University of Otago.
