Physics is the science behind how the universe works, exploring everything from the motion of planets to the behaviour of atoms and light. Otago offers state-of-the-art facilities that give you the chance to work on genuinely exciting problems. A Physics degree opens diverse careers; Otago physics graduates have gone on to work as patent attorneys, in hospital radiation therapy, as product managers and as teachers.

Entry requirements

• International students need a secondary-school qualification recognised as equivalent to New Zealand University Entrance. Widely accepted qualifications include Cambridge International A-levels (typically at least 120 NZ Tariff points), the IB Diploma (minimum 24 points), and many recognised national qualifications assessed country-by-country. Applicants who do not meet direct entry can qualify through a foundation-year programme or one year of study at an institution of university standing. Some programmes require specific subjects, and a satisfactory level of English is required.
