Economics is the study of how people behave and make decisions — how we use and allocate our resources, how we deal with issues like climate change, which career we choose, and more. These decisions involve trade-offs between costs and benefits, and we are constantly considering these in our everyday life. At UC, there are lots of opportunities to gain experience including industry projects, internships, clubs, and overseas study trips.
International applicants must hold a secondary-school qualification assessed as equivalent to New Zealand University Entrance. Widely recognised qualifications include the IB Diploma, Cambridge International A-levels, and approved national school-leaving qualifications; where a qualification falls short, UC offers foundation and pathway programmes. Some degrees and majors require specific subjects (for example mathematics or sciences) at the appropriate level. Applicants must also meet UC's English language requirements.
