About this programme
In your first year of our BSc Cellular and Molecular Medicine course, you'll gain a broad training in biomedical sciences. You'll begin studying the cellular and molecular basis of human diseases, as well as basic biochemistry, cell biology, pathology, microbiology and virology.Year two will see you exploring molecular genetics and learning skills in recombinant DNA technology. These practices underpin research in many cutting-edge laboratories.Our dynamic laboratory manual, eBiolabs, helps you prepare for practical laboratory sessions in your first and second years. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your transferable and employability skills in the Biomedical Research, Employability and Enterprise Skills unit in the second year.In your final year, you'll choose from a range of optional units. You'll also undertake a grant proposal or research project, working in our research projects laboratory in the Biomedical Sciences Building or one of the hospitals. Optional units and the research project reflect our research strengths in cancer biology, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, and infection and immunology.
