About this programme

AUT’s midwifery course prepares you for a successful and rewarding career as a midwife, either as a hospital midwife or a lead maternity carer. Practical experience is a key part of our midwifery programme. Study midwifery at AUT and gain a Bachelor of Health Science degree.

Entry requirements

International applicants must hold a secondary-school qualification recognised as equivalent to New Zealand University Entrance. Accepted routes include Cambridge International A/AS-levels (a minimum of 120 UCAS Tariff points across at least three subjects), the IB Diploma (minimum 24 points), and a range of recognised national and foundation qualifications (AUT publishes country-specific benchmarks). Some programmes require specific subjects (e.g. mathematics or English at a set grade), and a few fields ask for a portfolio, audition or interview — check the individual programme page. A recognised English-language qualification is required separately.
